Friday Volatility Melt Up?

Now that volatility is.....hold your breath.......lifting , let's just reflect for a second how utterly dormant we had become.

The top chart is 10 day historical volatility for the QQQQ's, and dipped below the Bar Mitzvah line yesterday. Last trickle down to those levels was in early October, not long before the Nazz started to get hit.

Now a quick glance at the charts and you can see the QQQQ itself looks very different now. In October it was creeping higher, today it has spent a full month and change basically hovering between 43 and 45.

So if you are of the mind set that low volatility begets high volatility, we're at interesting levels here, right about where we sat last Friday at this time before some breathless reporting of the ABK rescue.

Which reminds me, what ever happened to that deal?

Watching the carnage from seattle this morning. No one in the coffee shop seems very concerned.

just wait until SBUX closes for "employee training", that will get that panic going.
